RULES & ENTRY PROCEDURE
Texas Wax, a Texas non-profit arts organization, invites you to submit an entry to its Logo Competition. We appreciate your participation and wish you good luck!
CONCEPT OF COMPETITION
Artwork should embody the spirit and mission statement of Texas Wax (please see below). It will become the visual identification for the Texas Wax non-profit entity and will be the property of Texas Wax. Selected artwork will be used as the primary logo for the organization on its website and other marketing materials.
RULES OF COMPETITION
1. Submit original artwork or comprehensive layouts. The work must be original. Design must incorporate original ideas of the artist. Because the artwork will receive widespread exposure, the design may not be a close derivative of an existing logo.
2. Entrants are encouraged to include with their entries a brief explanation of how the design of the logo reflects Texas Wax. The logo should be suitable for adaptation to a variety of formats, such as the Texas Wax printed materials, website, etc. The logo should maintain its appearance well in different sizes. The logo must work in black and white, grayscale, and in color. The logo should incorporate the name “Texas Wax” and may, but is not required, to include the words “Encaustic Arts.”
3. Board members and officers of Texas Wax are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate. All Associate Members of Texas Wax are eligible and encouraged to participate. It is not necessary however to be an Associate Member of Texas Wax to submit an entry.
4. The artist agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Texas Wax LLC from and against any damages or losses sustained as a result of any design that is not original. By submitting an entry the artist certifies that he/she is the author of the material submitted to Texas Wax and that if the entry is selected, Texas Wax and its licensees may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works and otherwise use the material for any purpose in any form and on any media. By submitting an entry the artist further agrees if his/her entry is selected he/she will assign free of charge all exclusive and transferable rights to use, publish, advertise, copy, modify, alter and reproduce the logo in any possible manner (commercial and non-commercial).
JUDGES
Texas Wax will select judges for the competition that may include representatives from the Texas Wax board, professional graphic designers and representatives from the arts community. Judges will not know the identity of the entrants and will base their decision solely on the artistic merit of the entry.
AWARDS
The winning artist will receive a $250 cash award and will be identified on the Texas Wax website with a link to the artist’s website, if requested.
ELIGIBILITY
1. To be eligible to win the $250 cash award, entrants must be 18 years of age or older and reside in the state of Texas at the time of the competition.
2. Entries submitted must be the original artwork or design of the entrant.
3. Each entry should contain the design of the logo, including any associated lettering. Each entry must include the entry form (below) with the following information: name, address, email, phone number, and signature.
4. Entries should be submitted as jpeg, tiff or eps files and should not exceed 3MB in size.
5. There are no fees to submit an entry. Limit one logo submission per person.
CALENDAR
All entries must be emailed by March 1, 2010 to Sharon Kyle Kuhn of Texas Wax at: bay6studio@gmail.com. In lieu of email submissions, digital files may be sent on a CD to Sharon Kyle Kuhn at: 5305 Bolm Rd, Unit6, Austin, TX 78721. Mailed entries must be postmarked by March 1, 2010 to be considered.
April 2, 2010
Winning artwork and artist will be announced. All entrants will be notified by email when judging is completed.

Texas Wax is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support, educate, and promote the efforts of its associate members in the creation, exhibition and distribution of encaustic arts in Texas. Texas Wax provides support and education for its associates through workshops, seminars and group meetings regarding the use of the medium, business advice and artistic review. Texas Wax promotes the efforts of its associate members through group shows, digital media and marketing materials. In addition to the services provided to its associate members, Texas Wax promotes encaustic arts throughout the state of Texas and beyond through programming, events and educational materials that educate art collectors, art dealers, aspiring artists, students and the general community.

SHOW DETAILS
“El Corazón”: Using the broad theme of “El Corazón” this exhibition will explore the growing impact and influence of Hispanic art and culture in the United States. This gives us the opportunity to express the spirit of the heart, alternately heavy, light-hearted or whimsical.
ELIGIBILITY: This call for submission is open to all residents of the U.S. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non- traditional 2D and 3D media. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Note: Crafts, kit work or reproductions after original works in other media (such as giclees), unless used as part of a mixed media work, will not be considered. Oversize Work, Assemblages and Installations are welcome at the discretion of Eclectic Expressions.
SUBMISSIONS AND FEES:
Only original works may be submitted. They must be in a .jpg file format, online or by mailed CD/DVD only. CDs will not be returned. No work done in class or under supervision may be submitted.
Eclectic Expressions prefers an email entry and will accept a mailed CD. All entry fees are non-refundable. Cost of Entry is $20.00 for up to three (3) pieces. All entries must be received by 5pm, January 25, 2010.

In the Fall of 2010, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) will host CraftTexas 2010, the sixth in a series of juried exhibitions showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. The exhibition will feature artists from all over the state who work in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and found/recycled materials.
This unique show, which will be captured in a DVD catalogue and may be toured, provides Texas artists the opportunity to be considered for inclusion in major national museum and private collections. The exhibition also serves as a starting place for the general public to appreciate the depth and breadth of art being made in our own communities and across the state.
CraftTexas 2010 will be juried by Gail M. Brown, independent curator of contemporary craft from Philadelphia, PA; Cindy Hickok, internationally acclaimed fiber artist from Houston, TX; and Paula Owen, president of the Southwest School of Arts and Crafts in San Antonio, TX. A R T I S T E L I G I B I L I T Y
• CraftTexas 2010 is open to all artists currently residing in Texas.
• Works in craft media: clay, fiber, glass, metal and wood and in found/recycled materials will be accepted.
• Each artist may submit up to three (3) original works completed within the last two (2) years.
• Work must be available for a one-year traveling schedule and may not be withdrawn from the exhibition at any time prior to the final closing date.
• Crated work must fit through a 4’ x 8’ door and actual work may not exceed 200 pounds in weight.
• Work cannot have been exhibited at HCCC in the past.

• Three (3) Award of Merit prizes of $1000 each will be chosen.
• All selected artists will receive the CraftTexas 2010 DVD catalogue.

• Applications must be completed and submitted online via the CaFÉ TM system at www.callforentry.org.
• Online applications will be accepted from September 1, 2009, until March 1, 2010 (midnight, Central Standard Time).
• Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
S U B M I S S I O N M A T E R I A L S
• Artist statement (maximum of 1000 characters).
• Current, one-page resume in MS Word (.doc) or PDF (.pdf) only.
• Artists may enter up to three (3) pieces of work. Artists may submit up to two (2) digital images per work, for a total of up to six (6) images. (One of the two images per work may be a detail or back-side view.)
• Artists must indicate if their work is for sale or not. If work is for sale, the retail price must be listed. Please note that HCCC retains a 50% commission on all retail sales from CraftTexas 2010.
• Non-refundable entry fee of $35 to be paid by credit card.
J U R Y P R O C E S S
Work submitted to CraftTexas 2010 will be juried via the CaFÉ TM system using high-resolution digital images. Images must be accurate representations of the work. Accepted work that differs significantly from the images may be rejected at the discretion of HCCC. No substitutions of accepted work will be allowed.
A C C E P T E D W O R K
• Notification of acceptance will be on or before April 19, 2010.
• Accepted work should arrive exhibition ready between Monday, September 13, and Monday, September 20, 2010. Please make proper arrangements for delivery or with your shipper to ensure arrival dates.
• All work will be installed by professional staff and may not be shown at the discretion of the installation team. Packaging and artworks must be in good condition and able to withstand the strains of transportation. Work must be properly packaged for travel; wooden crates are highly recommended. Work not properly packaged for travel may be withheld from subsequent venues.
• Artists are responsible for transit and insurance of accepted work to the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. HCCC will not accept COD shipments.
• HCCC will provide insurance on all works while exhibited on site, during transit to the first touring venue, and upon return to the artist. HCCC will not assume responsibility for work while at other venues or in transit between venues.
• HCCC reserves the right to photograph and distribute any images of work in the exhibition for educational or publicity purposes, via electronic or print media of any kind.

“For the Love of ART” Juried Art Show
Presented by Austin Art Space Gallery & Studios Juried by Beryl Kerwick
Entries to the Love of ART Show must simply represent your interpretation of what is love, or the impact of love. The only limitation is size of entry, no larger than 48” in any dimension
Ms. Kerwick is an acclaimed central Texas artist and art instructor. Her water media, oil, and acrylic pieces are collected throughout the United States. Ms. Kerwick has instructed at the Dougherty Arts Center in Austin, Texas for over 20 years and now holds private instruction. She continues to be a vital part of the central Texas art community in service and deed.
Austin Art Space charges no commissions on sales at the show. The entry fee remains low. We nationally promote the show and submit press on your behalf.
