TexasWax/Austin will meet at 10:30 a.m. on January 17th at the studio of Roxi McCloskey Morris. This will be the 1st meeting of 2009 and will be our planning meeting for the year. What a great evening at Bay6. Roxi spoke about the history of encaustics, showed work from her students, her own artwork and demonstrated many techniques. Roxi is an artist and art educator. She was the Executive Director of the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation northwest of San Antonio, and established their studio school in 2006. She was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Texas in San Antonio for fifteen years, and taught at Trinity University, the Southwest School of Art & Craft, and the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. She began working in encaustic painting in 1993, and has taught numerous courses and workshops in the medium. She holds a BFA and MFA degrees in Fine Arts and currently resides and pursues her studio work in Austin, Texas.
